A Delta Trap is a pheromone-based pest monitoring and control device. It uses the scent of a female insect (pheromone lure) to attract male moths. These moths get stuck on the sticky sheet (glue board) inside the trap. This helps farmers detect pest infestation early and take timely control measures.

Delta traps are used for pest monitoring in the following crops:

• Tomato (Tuta absoluta)

In tomato crops, Tuta absoluta is a highly destructive pest.
Using a Delta Trap helps to:

🔹 How Many Traps Should Be Installed?

For monitoring:

• 5 to 10 traps per acre

For control:

• 10 to 15 traps per acre

🔹 How to Install a Delta Trap?

• Install the trap slightly above the crop canopy (plant height)

• Place traps uniformly across the field

• The trap contains a sticky sheet (glue board)

• Replace the sheet when the glue becomes less effective

🔹 When Should the Pheromone Lure Be Replaced?

The pheromone lure should be replaced every 45 to 60 days.
